DFKI @ University of Saarland supports the SPS

"We plan in line with a course for students to create interactive presentations for the base of the Solar Peace Sculpture. One idea could be that the active presence of the viewer around the sculpture or the active extracted energy of the solar panels will be integrated into the presentation. In line with the sculpture a digital supply is then related to subjects like energy consumption and scarcity of resources. The students get the unique opportunity to participate on an art project."
Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger (DFKI GmbH, Dezember 2010)

HTW facing new project challenges

Prof. Dr. Schmidt-Gönner with Fred George

With the planned multi-media-installation in the base of the Solar Peace Sculpture different construction details of the sculpture will have to be changed and adapted, like Prof. Dr. Günter Schmidt-Gönner says. The engineers of the HTW prepare these technical components, which should be moved in the next project phase.

Technical Details (6 meter)

Start to finish we did the construction of the 6-meter-version in three weeks. It was fabricated in Saarland by G. Becker GmbH, St.Ingbert and brought to Cologne for the Vernissage of the ART.FAIR 21.

The 6-meter version was engineered for the ART.FAIR 21 by Dipl. Ing. (FH) Bernd Eichenseer, Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft HTW.

The original engineering for the 17-meter Solar Peace Sculpture (2008-2010) was made by Prof. Dr. Günter Schmidt-Gönner and HTW students. Headed by the HTW Dipl. Ing. (FH) Eugen Schneider and Dipl. Ing. (FH) Matthias Kreuz.

The Construction management was coordinated from Marcus Feld, f:kom, feld kommunikation & design, Saarbrücken, Bernd Eichenseer, HTW and Peter Schmitt, Köln.

Public Relations and Projectmanagement was made by Sabine Feld, f:kom, feld kommunikation & design, Saarbrücken.
