Accomplishments

Fred George is a motivated, insightful, accomplished artist whose work makes one question the status quo.

A politically motivated artist from New York, USA, Fred George continues to experiment and expand on a vibrant career spanning more than 30 years. Having started his artistic journey with studies in photography and sculpting, his resulting lifelong obsession with expression and creation has culminated into an eclectic array of artwork and accompanying accolades.

Working extensively on various creative writing and music projects as well, Fred can weave a rich tapestry of meaning between numerous mediums. The forward-thinking nature of his work creates a timeless mosaic that can be appreciated contemporarily just as much as it can be appreciated retrospectively. Thanks to the visionary planning of each work and the fact that Fred chooses not to shy away from challenging topics, his work continues to attract interest and recognition from casual viewers and professional collaborators alike.


This interest and recognition are represented by the awards and attention that Fred has earned over the years, through his dedication to his craft. Not only has Fred worked with many notable clients such as the New York Museum of Modern Art and Museum of Natural History, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Los Angeles Walt Disney Center, but he has also received many major advertising industry awards including the BPAA (Business/Professional Advertising Association) Star Award, the Communication Arts Award of Excellence, and various International Advertising Festival awards.

     The quality of Fred’s work has not gone unnoticed by private organizations either, having attracted interest and projects from the likes of IBM, American Express, Canon, Cartier, Trump Properties, and more. Notable architectural photography projects also include the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, and General Motors Building, with various shots appearing in publications such as Architecture, Architectural Record, The New York Times Magazine, Time, and Rolling Stone.




 Fred’s most recognized pieces include his collection of 9/11 photos and the well-received shoot

J ,- a large poster or on pictures composed of ceramic tiles - a young man on the cross. A classic motif. On closer inspection, the viewer discovers that the man is carrying a bomb: a symbol for the nonsense of religious wars, crucifixions, crusades, and Muslim suicide attacks at the same time.

, a 5-meter-high cross, is welded together from certified, unusable Kalashnikov submachine guns, the standard weapon of the devastating Balkan war: a plea against racially and religiously motivated violence.

, - they were recorded in the Vulcan junkyard on the outside of New York. The brightly colored, larger-than-life pictures, mounted on massive steel frames, depict young women of Eastern European descent, with sexy make-up but clad in scrap metal: a symbol of the dehumanization of women after moving to the world's megacities and their metamorphosis into industrialized and technologically advanced beings.

, which has now been redesigned and became the 

   Capturing the emotion and tension of the aftermath of 9/11, “Ash Wednesday” became the signature photo of the Museum of History’s 2008 exhibition in New York City “Remembering 911”, beating out 700 other submissions. “Ash Wednesday” continues to sell globally through galleries in New York and Frankfurt as well.

     The largest and longest running of Fred’s projects, the Solar Peace Sculpture/Mosaic Peace Sculpture. The sculpture draws attention to the global crisis of consumption and political tension. Almost impossible to miss or ignore, this 7m steel sculpture has received acclaim from community leaders and members all the same for its connection to its surroundings and message.
